On Tuesday, April 1, 4th grade traveled to Jefferson City to visit our state capitol. I have to take a moment and brag on our Stapleton students. They represented our school in amazing ways. We had several compliments from others in the capitol about how well they were behaved. They were respectful, followed instructions, and had an amazing time. They got to tour the Governor's Mansion, the Capitol, have lunch and meet with Representative Bill White and Senator Ron Richards. They also go to sit in on a debate in the House of Representatives. While listening to the debate, Jayden looked at me and mouthed, "THIS IS SO COOL!"
It was well worth the long bus ride and seeing how much the students enjoyed it made the long day (and night) a total success. We teachers can't take all of the credit though. We had several parent volunteers to gathered snacks for the long bus ride, and followed the bus to help out as needed throughout the day. This was a wonderful opportunity for our students and hopefully a field trip they will never forget. Thank you to the parents for sharing their students with us for a 14 hour day. It was so much fun to get to be with the kids in a different setting. Bus rides are never boring! I had several students who wanted to sit with me on the bus. In my day, we wanted to be as far away from the teacher as possible, but not these sweethearts. I was entertained, amused, and laughed most all the way.
Thank you again to everyone who supported this trip! It was a complete success!
